What’s In My Bag? (as promised 🤎)

I’ve always loved these kinds of posts because you can learn so much about a person from the little things they carry every day. A bag is kind of like a tiny time capsule of your current life season. Mine? A mix of motherhood, “just in case,” soft girl essentials, and survival mode.

So, let’s get into it.

First things first: lip gloss. Always. I genuinely feel incomplete without one nearby. Whether it’s tucked in a side pocket, floating around at the bottom of my bag, or mysteriously missing when I need it most, there’s always at least one gloss in rotation.

Next is lotion because ashiness waits for nobody. Especially after washing my hands a hundred times throughout the day. A small bottle stays in my bag at all times like a faithful companion.

And of course, perfume. I love carrying a small fragrance with me because sometimes a quick spray can shift your whole mood. Running errands feel a little more luxurious when you smell good. Tiny acts of romance with yourself matter too.

I also take my earbuds with me everywhere. They are honestly one of my favorite little everyday essentials. Whether I’m listening to music, taking a quick phone call, drowning out noise for a minute, or pretending I can’t hear “mommmm” for five seconds in Target… they come in handy constantly.

Another thing I always carry is a small notebook. Not even for anything fancy either. I use it to jot down random thoughts, reminders, blog ideas, grocery lists, things I don’t want to forget, or moments that hit me in the middle of the day. My brain moves fast sometimes, and writing things down helps me slow life down enough to hold onto it.

I also keep a power bank in my bag because having your phone die while you’re out feels like modern-day distress. Mine also has a location tracker attached, which honestly gives me peace of mind. Between work, kids, errands, and everyday life, I like knowing I can quickly track my things if needed.

And because safety matters, I carry a small self-defense kit too. As women, especially moms, we move through the world differently. We think ahead. We stay aware. Having something with me just makes me feel a little more secure when I’m out alone or running around late.

Then there’s the usual:

  • Wallet

  • Keys

  • Random receipts I forgot to throw away

  • Snacks that somehow get crushed at the bottom of my bag

  • Hair ties

  • Pens

  • Hand sanitizer

Honestly, my bag is never perfectly organized. Some days it’s giving “she has her life together.” Other days it’s crumbs, tangled earbuds, and chaos. But I think that’s the beauty of it.

Our bags carry little pieces of our everyday lives. Tiny comforts. Tiny routines. Tiny reminders of who we are and what we need to make it through the day.

And because my life is a sitcom half the time, I recently found a single baby sock at the bottom of my bag. No pair. No explanation. Just vibes. Motherhood is wild.

Now I’m curious: what’s the most unexpected thing you’ve ever found in your bag that made you laugh or shake your head at yourself?
